four-leaf clovers bring you luck whether you believe it or not. That said, in all my life I had never been able to find a four-leaf clover on my own. I suffer from a four-leaf clover blind-spot and have always depended on my sister's uncanny ability to see them for me. However, she lives on a different continent now, so I was on my own.
I began to seek out green spaces everywhere, in an effort to find "my" four-leaf clovers in the ten days before my first trip with the new passports. I clearly saw it happen in my mind, and even dreamt about it. But it didn't happen, and on the eleventh day I boarded the plane feeling deflated. In my self-talk I argued I was just being stupid - "Who has time for trivial stuff like that?" - but in the end decided to stick with it, reminding myself that beliefs are worthless unless tested. In very private conversations with the Universe I granted it another chance. (I am not kidding). Soon enough we landed in Dublin, Ireland. Taking advantage of free time before the first meeting, and I went for a stroll at St. Stephen's Green where I stopped to admire a particularly beautiful section of the green. An errant look down at my feet ... revealed an entire meadow of four-leaf and even five-leaf clovers! An Irish gardener must have invented them! Not only that, but they were smiling at me - "Hi, we have been waiting for you. How are you?"
I've had many manifestations of the Law of Attraction throughout my life, but this was the most obvious one. Not only did it unerringly draw me to the object of my desire, but it presented me with an entire field of it, in possibly the only field of four-leaf and five-leaf clovers in the world. Nothing but the Law of Attraction can explain it ... unless, of course, for people who believe a book is the result of an explosion in a print factory. I share the story in the hope it might constitute good advice to kids whose parents don't believe in the law of attraction.
QUOTES:
A visitor to my country cottage, noticing a horseshoe hanging on the wall, teased me - the scientist - about this ancient superstition. "Can it be that you, of all people, believe it will bring you luck?" "Of course not," I replied, "but I understand it brings you luck whether you believe or not." – Niels Bohr
"Luck is when opportunity and work come together."
"Shallow men believe in luck, believe in circumstances: it was somebody's name, or he happened to be there at the right time, or it was so then, and another day it would have been otherwise. Strong men believe in cause and effect."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Sticking to it is the genius! Any other bright-minded fellow can accomplish just as much as I did if he will stick like hell and remember nothing that's any good works by itself. You got to make the damn thing work. I'll never give up, for I may have a streak of luck before I die." - Thomas Edison
"I was a late bloomer, but anyone who blooms at all, ever, is very lucky. Many lives don't allow that, the good fortune of being able to work at it, and try, and keep trying." - Sharon Olds
